Rourkela Station of South Eastern Railway has geared up to welcome the Hockey Stars from the different corners of the Globe who will be participating in FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023. The matches of this tournament will be held at Birsa Munda Stadium, Rourkela and Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar.
Rourkela Station of Chakradharpur Division has gone through a major facelift to support this spectacular event. To facilitate the live telecast of the hockey matches for the travelling passengers, Giant Screen has been installed at the station with seating arrangements. The stair case of the Foot Over Bridges and circulating area of the station has been painted on the theme of “Hockey” as a part of beautification of the station. Special emphasis has been given on the aspect of cleanliness, anticipating the rush of spectators during the tournament. Security of the station and the passing trains has also been strengthened to avoid any untoward incident. Additional personnel of Railway Protection Force have been deployed and the team of My Saheli have been instructed to keep an extra vigil for safety and security of the passengers.
Two pairs of Special Trains will run between Bhubaneswar-Rourkela-Bhubaneswar (10 Trips) and Puri-Rourkela-Puri (18 Trips) during the period from 14th to 31st January, 2023 for smooth commuting of the spectators.
A spectacular inaugural function of FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023 was held at Barbati Stadium, Cuttack yesterday. The tournament is going to be one of the most memorable global sporting event of India ever and South Eastern Railway is proud to be a part of it.
