West Bokaro (Ramgarh),: The 11th edition of the much-awaited ‘Annual Flower and Vegetable Show’ organised by Tata Steel West Bokaro Division, was inaugurated today at DAV School Ground, West Bokaro.
The three-day (Jan 20-22) event was inaugurated by Bimal Lakra, IFS, Conservator of Forest, Bokaro along with Suchita Lakra and Anurag Dixit, General Manager, West Bokaro Division, Tata Steel.
Various flowers and vegetables were on display by the West Bokaro township residents, local samities, vendors and school children. A total of 50 stalls are being set up in the institutional display, individual categories and for showcasing flowers, bonsai, vegetables and landscaping with potted plants. There is a separate arena for sale counters where rare species of plants and garden materials are available for sale.
Appreciating the efforts of Tata Steel, Bimal Lakra said: “I am happy to see the involvement of students from various schools and enthralled to see the innovation they have shown in their art and craft showcased in the event.”
Reiterating Tata Steel’s commitment towards environment, Anurag Dixit said: “Tata Steel is committed towards protection of environment and biodiversity conservation. Annual Flower and Vegetable Show is a good platform to create awareness on the subject and involve the community at large. I request all for more participation. This is a platform to create awareness regarding environment among the people residing in and around West Bokaro.”
Among others present on the occasion were Mrinal Bhadra, Chief Quarry-SE, Tata Steel, Rajesh Patel, Chief, Quarry-AB, Rajesh Kumar, Chief CEP, Mahesh Prasad, President, Rashtriya Colliery Mazdoor Sangh, PK Singh, Secretary, Rashtriya Colliery Mazdoor Sangh and other senior officials of Tata Steel.
The event was coordinated by the Environment Department of Tata Steel West Bokaro Division led by Vikash Kumar, Head, Planning, West Bokaro, Tata Steel.
