Jamshedpur। Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry and traders of Kolhan division on Monday held a meeting in Chamber Bhawan here to chalk out strategy to make the state-wide indenite foodgrain market bandh on February 15 a grand success.
Kolhan division comprised of East and West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharswan districts of Jharkhand.
The bandh was called by Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce in protest against imposition of two percent “market tax” under Jharkhand State Agriculture Produce and Livestock Marketing bill 2022 approved by the governor recently.
In a recent meeting held under the banner of Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce in Ranchi, SCCI President Vijay Anand Moonka and General Secretary Manav Kedia said it was decided to observe closure of sale and purchase in wholesale market of foodgrains, potato and onion, fruits etc across the state from February 15 till the black law was withdrawn.
Today’s meeting held at Chamber bhawan was aimed to chalk out strategy to make a day-long bandh of wholesaler, retailers, semi-wholesellers, grocery shops, potato, onion and fruit dealers on 15th February in mineral-rich Kolhan region, they said.
Moonka said the traders also stage a day-long “Maha-dharna” in front of East Singhbhum district collectorate on February 15 to lodge our protest against the bill.
Representatives of Kolhan Rice Mill Association, Flour Mill Association, Golmuri Bazar Samity, Sidgora Bazar Samity, Kagalnagar Bazar Samity, Jugsalai oil dealers, potato, onion and fruit traders have extended unanimous support in the meeting.
SCCI Vice-President (Trade and Commerce) Nitesh Dhoot appealed the traders to express solidarity to make the bandh a success. He said the ongoing agitation will continue till the bill was rolled back.
