Chaibasa (Jharkhand): The outlawed ultra outfit on the intervening night of Thursday/Friday blew up a panchayat bhawan (building) and a culvert with landmines in Goilkera police station area of naxal-affected West Singhbhum district.
Police sources said a group of CPI (Maoists) triggered the blast in Kadamdiha panchayat bhawan damaging it badly.
The villagers used to discharge their day to day work from the panchayat bhawan for the convenience of rural masses.
Besides, the Maoists also damaged a culvert in Berkela village in Goilkera in a IED blast last night, creating panick among the villagers.
Police said the incidents only exhibited the “desperation” of the naxalites as the anti-naxal operation launched by the district police have been producing desirable result and weakened the rebels activities in the district.
Since 11th January last, the district police has launched a massive anti-naxal operation in core Kolhan area of the district to flush out the ultras. lot
Police had information about the tepresenT5ce of top Maoists leaders including Misir Besra, who was carrying a reward of Rupees one crore on his head, was continuing. ,
The naxal have executed their plan in the midst of their ongoing week-long retribution week began since 12th February.
The ultras also pasted posters on the walks of the panchayat bhawan agains the anti-,naxal campaign.
