Chaibasa (Jharkhand): In yet another incident, A 52-year-old man was blown up to death on Wednessday in an explosion of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by banned CPI (Maoists) and his wife also injuried in Chundri Forest under Goilkera police station.
The victim Krishna Purty along with his wife Nandi Purty (50) were going to field to work when the IED went off, killing Krishna on the spot, said Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Shekhar.
Krishna’wife also suffered injuries under the impact of the explosion.
The district police force rushed to the spot on receiving information about the incident and taken out the body with the assistance of villagers.
The injured woman was shifted to a hospital for treatment, SP said expressing shock over the incident.
The desperation of left wing extremists was clearly visible as they are now using IEDs to target innocent villagers, police officer said assuring the rural masses that the district police was always stand with them rock solid to ensure safety.
SP said an all out campaign against naxalites was launched by the security personnel in core Kolhan area since January last to end the menace.
So far, the anti-extremist drive have been successful as several ultras were arrested or forced them to surrender. Besides, hundreds of explosives devices have been recovered during the operation.
Four persons including a Sub-Inspector of CRPF had been killed in IED explosion and over a dozen para-military jawans sustained splinter injuries during the operation.
According to sources, the Maoists were desperate to get a passage for movement but were cordoned by security personnel.
This was the reason the Maoists were now triggering IED blast and killing innocent villagers.
The district police and para-military were continuing the operation against the rebels, he added.
