Jamshedpur: The President of Sanatan Utsav Samity, Harjeet Singh alias Chintu Singh (35) was arrested on charges of issuing threat to a borrower with dire consequences on Friday, police said.
A case against Chintu Singh and two others-Subham Jha and Ashish- was registered under sections 387/506 IPC with Jugsalai police station on 20th February last on the statement of Arjun Sharma, a resident of Jugsalai.
Chintu and his friends threatened Sharma with dire consequences if he would not pay back Rs.15 lakhs he borrowed on interest and demanding ransom from him, police said.
Chintu was brought here for interrogation.
Chintu has confessed his crime in course of interrogation and subsequently, he was arrested.
Chintu had borrowed Rs.15 lakhs to Sharma on 10 per cent interest and used issue threat through Shubham and Ashish to Sharma, when he expressed his inability to repay the amount.
Chintu has threatened Sharma with dire consequences and grabbed Sharma’s Harley Davidson bike.
Chintu also snatched a fortuner from one Rashimat Pid of Ranikudar on failing to repay Rs.40 lakhs loan Rashimat borrowed from him.
Chintu also snatched MG Hector, Altros cars from Manish Prasad and Rajbir (Ghatsila) for failing to return the money.
Rajbir had borrowed Rs.4 lakhs but Chintu snatched his Hector car worth Rs.20 lakhs as ransom, police said.
A Altros car was taken away by Chintu when one Rishu of Ranchi failed to repay Rs.2 lakhs.
Police has seized Chintu’s Iphone and cheques signed by Rajkumar Giri, Arjun Sharma, Badal Tapadia and Rajesh Kumar of various banks from his house in Sonari.
Earlier, Chintu was arrested a day before on charges of obstructing government officials from discharging their duty few months ago over construction of a temple over disputed site in Sakchi.
Chintu, however, was released on bail within hours of arrest.
