Jamshedpur: Usha Kiran Kandulna, a native of Jharkhand and first tribal officer, to get elevated to the post of Inspector General of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).
Usha Kiran had joined the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) as Assistant Commandant in 1987 and has been elevated to the rank of Inspector General. She was the first lady officer to head the Karnataka-Kerala sector of CRPF located at Bengaluru.
She was the first ever tribal lady officer attaining the designation of Inspector General in CAPF.
During her service in CRPF, Usha Kiran has served in the most terrorists affected states of Jammu and Kashmir, North Eastern Region and left wing extremists affected states of West Bengal and Jharkhand.
The lady officer was also hand-picked to head Indian Female contingent for UN Mission at Liberia in 2010 and 2011.
Usha Kiran was honored with DGS Commn Disc, PM Merit medal, United Nation Medal, Videsh Seva and DGs Commn disc.
