Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum district police has geared up to ensure peaceful Holi and Shab-e-barat and warned the mischief-mongers of stringent action if any attempt to disturb the prevailing peace and tranquility of the district was made.
On the directives of Senior Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar, all the police stations were holding peace committee meeting for past few days in their respective jurisdiction to ensure that the festivals are observed peacefully.
The police has intensified patrolling in the district and deployed police force in sensitive joints to maintain law and order.
A flag march was also held in the steel city here to inculcate confidence among the citizens. Besides, police was also keeping vigil on mischievous elements and initiating action against them.
Meanwhile, the district police have been keeping vigil on social media and
appealed the masses not post any objectionable, baseless, misleading, false and violent, inflammatory messages or videos on social media such as whatsapp, facebook, twitter, instagram etc.
Police asked people to verify the facts of messages and videos before sharing it.
Police warned that stringent action will be initiated against persons if found violating the norms.
Action against Whatsapp group admins will also be taken if inflammatory, baseless, misleading message or videos are posted in their groups.
Police also appealed the people not to pay heed to canards.
Police also issued mobile/whatsapp number (7091091825/9508280796) or dial 100/112 and urged the masses to inform nearest police station about social media users posting such messages or videos, so that police can initiate appropriate and legal action against such anti-social elements.
Police assured that the identity of the informer will be kept secret.
