Chaibasa (Jharkhand): The security personnel carrying out operation against extremists groups successfully recovered an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by the rebels to target them from a forest near Tumbhaka village under Tonto police station of West Singhbhum district today afternoon.
The operation was being jointly launched by CRPF, Cobra, Jharkhand Jaguar and district armed police in core Kolhan area of naxal-affected district for last two months to apprehend top naxals carrying out their activities from forest.
Among other, top naxal leaders including Misir Besra, who was carrying a reward of Rs. One crore on his head, Anmol, Mochu, Chaman, Kande, Ajay Mahato, Sagen Angaria, Ashwin along with their squad members were continuing their activities from core Kolhan area of naxal-infested district.
On the basis of the input, the district armed police jointly with CRPF, Cobra, Jharkhand Jaguar have launched a massive drive against the rebels to flush them out since 11th January.

The security personnel detected the IED planted by ultras to target them in course of the operation in a forest near Tumbhaka village under Tonto police station today afternoon, Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Shekhar said.
The bomb disposal squad defused the IED, which weighed 3.5 kgs, on the spot, he said adding that the operation was continuing.
Earlier, Maoists planted had claimed four lives and injured over a dozen jawans including a CRPF Sub-inspector in Tonto and Goilkera police stations of the district during the operation.
