Jamshedpur: Policemen from Mango and Olidih police station had a tough time on Thursday past midnight when they have gone to recover a body of a man lying for last five days and the deceased wife living with it in their house in Subhash colony under Olidih police station.
The accused woman did not let any one get an iota of hint about her husband Amarnath Singh, who was reportedly dealing in real estate, lying dead for last five days and she kept chatting with neighbors as usual.
When neighbours asked about Amarnath, Meera lied them stating that her husband was inside.
On Thursday, the neighbors rushed to complain about foul smell emanating from their house, Amarnath’s wife Meera had scolded them away stating that everything was alright in her house.
Suspecting something fishy, the neighbors called Amaranth’s son, who was studying in Pune, and narrated him about the stench coming out from his house in Jamshedpur.
Amarnath’s son immediately informed the matter to Mango and Olidih police station.
A police team along with local residents reached the spot and asked Meera to open the gate but she refused to obey the order.
The eccentric woman electrified her residential compound in Road no.3 from all side to prevent entry of anyone.
However, the local residents disconnected the electricity supply from the local transformer and police rushed into the house of Meera forcibly only to see Amaranth’s body lying on the floor.
Police has taken the accused Meera, who stated to be unsound mentally, into custody for interrogation whereas the body was sent to MGM hospital for post-mortem.
Officer-in-charge of Olidih police station, Vinod Tudu said we have recovered Amaranth’s body lying dead for last four-five days and detained his wife Meera for interrogation.
Meera was not in a state to speak, police officer said adding police was clueless about the death of Amarnath.
We are waiting for the post-mortem report as well as recovery of Meera’s condition. We will extract the exact cause behind Amaranth’s death from her, if she would return to normal at the earliest.
To a query that Meera had even made an abortive attempt to set Amaranth’s body on fire to conceal evidences, Police officer rubbished it as “baseless”.
