Chakradharpur: A passenger was killed and another sustained injuries after falling from running 12872 Dn Howrah-bound Ispat express between Chakradharpur-Lotapahar section of Chakradharpur division of South Eastern Railway on Sunday, Railway official said.
The incident occurred at about 13;32 hrs today.
Rail authorities have received an information that one injured person at km no 319/25 in between CKP- Lotapahar section was lying on the track.
Accordingly, the information officer and staff of RPF/Post/Chakradharpur & Lotapahar/Sonua attended the Place of occurrance and found one person (aged about 30 yrs) was lying dead at the spot and one person (aged about 25 yrs) lying in injured condition.
The injured person was immefiately shifted to government hospital in Chakradharpur for treatment.
Senior official of Railway Protection Force from Taranagar and Chakradharpur visited the hospital and had talk with the injured person identified as Dullu Sardar (21 yrs.), a resident of Bharniya under Toklo police station of West Singhbhum district.
Dullu told the official that he was boarded the 12872 Dn Ispat Express at Jharsuguda station for Chakradharpur with general ticket no. 94813200. During the journey, he was sitting at the gate.
After passing Lotapahar station, one passenger, who was standing just behind him, somehow got fallen down and in an attempt save himself, the passenger caught the collar of his shirt. As a result, Dullu said he had lost his balance and he too fallen down along with the deceased passenger and sustained injury. Further, he stated that the victim person was not known to him.
The official categorically denied that the victim was pushed down in course of a scuffle in the general compartment of the train.
There is no report of push or pull in the train, official said.
The dead body of unidentified person has been sent for postmortem in Chakradharpur after an unnatural death case was registered in this regard.
