Jamshedpur: The district administration of East Singhbhum on Sunday recovered 510 grams of objects looking alike precious emerald and Rupees nine lakhs eightyfour thousand nine hundred following a raid in Hathiapata village under Gorabandha police station, an official statement said.
The recovery was made on the basis of input received by the Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav, who directed the officials to initiate action against people indulged in illegal mining of precious stones.
Gorabandha Block Development Officer-cum-Circle Officer along with police force led by the Officer-in-Charge of Gorabandha police station conducted raid in Hathiapata village under Ghatsila Sub-divion and recovered 510 grams of stone look alike emerald and the cash.
Besides, police also seized 190 grams of object appeared like soil stuffed in a plastic and a mobile phone.
Following the examination of the seized mobile phone, police detected photo and videographs of emerald in the cell phone.
The accused Sanatan Shyamal was reported at large.
Sanatan’s father Benipado Shyamal could not produce any valid documents related to seized items.
Benipado Shyamal, who was present on the spot at the time of raid, told police that his son was engaged in illegal mining of emerald and deals in gems.
A case under relevant sections have been registered against Sanatan.
A hunt was on to apprehend the accused, who was absconding.
