Jamshedpur: The district administration seemed to have woken up from slumber and swung into action a day after a BJP leader posted a video on Sunday showing a truck transporting illegally mined sand from river Swarnarekha in Baharagora, around 90 kms from here, in East Singhbhum district.
In an attempt to prevent the illegal mining from the river, East Singhbhum district administration has started digging trench on the river ghat approaching kuchha (soil) road by JCB machines in a hurry.
The sand mafias had build the kuchha road upto river ghat to continue illegal sand mining.
In fact, BJP Jharkhand unit spokesman and former Baharagora MLA Kunal Sarangi had videographed a truck carrying sand illegally mined from the river on Sunday.
Soon after posting the video on the social media platform, Sarangi has reminded the incumbent Baharagora MLA and some his friends about the rewsrd, they had promised to give per truck if found transporting illegally mined sand.
For which development project of the government, the sand was being transported from Guhiapal village to National Highway at night?, BJP leader questioned.
The district administration swung into action after Sarangi released the video from his twitter handle.
The senior officials of the district had inspected the spot on Monday and closed the road by digging trenches to prevent movement on the Kuchha road, BJP spokesman said.
Raising question over the lackadaisical approach of the administration, Sarangi has pulled up the Jharkhand government over the loot of mineral resources, illegal sand mining and unauthorised felling of trees in forests in the state.
The state administration has now waken up from slumber, he said and questioned who was responsible for the revenue loss of the state?
Obviously, the river ghat approaching kuchha road was not built in a day or two, Sarangi said in a press release on Tuesday.
He accused that the sand mafias under the patronage of the state government have developed a kuchha road upto river ghat for uninterrupted transportation of illegal mined.
Such unlawful activities have been taking place for months and causing huge revenue loss to state exchequer, Sarangi regretted demanded to fix accountability of erring officials.
BJP firebrand leader urged the state administration to deal with the miscreants engaged in illegal mining strictly to prevent loot of minerals.
