Chaibasa (Jharkhand): A couple on Friday has been awarded life imprisonment by a local court in Chaibasa, West Singhbhum district for killing a woman in 2016.
Delivering the judgement, the court of Additional District and Session Judge-I has sentenced Turam Gope and his wife Kuni Gope, a residents of Lataserika Gope Tola under Muffasil police station of West Singhbhum district, for killing a neighbour Gurubari Sundi on the morning of 9th December, 2016.
The couple had attacked Gurubari with an axe and lathi over petty issue and killed her.
A case had been registered in this regard on the statement of Gurubari’s husband.
In course of the investigation, police had arrested Turam Gope and his wife Kuni Gope and forwarded them to judicial custody.
Police had filed the chargesheet in the court after they gathered evidences scientifically in course of the investigation.
After examining the evidences and witnesses, the court pronounced the judgement under section 302/34 IPC and sentenced life term to Turam and Kuni.
The court also imposed fine of Rs.5000/- on them.
