Jamshedpur: National Vice-President of BJP Raghubar Das on Sunday paid floral tribute to a former Director of Inside Jharkhand News Pravin Singh, who passed away about two years ago, while lauding the good work he did as a social activist.
Praveen Singh is not among us today but his popularity is visible here, a former Jharkhand Chief Minister Das said while citing huge turn out of people at an annual get-together function organized by Pravin Singh Smriti Seva Sansthan at Dhalbhum club in Sakchi on Sunday night.
Praveen Singh, a younger brother of three-time former legislator from Ichagarh Arvind Singh, had established his due place and gained popularity as he used extend his helping hand to poor and needy people of the society, Das said.
Senior BJP leader said Praveen Singh’s son Ankur Singh has grown up and marching on his father’s footsteps.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Arvind Singh, a former MLA and also Patron of Praveen Singh Smriti Seva Sansthan, said “Praveen Singh was my strength and whatever I am today, it was because of my younger brother”.
He was a soft-spoken and maintain cordial relation with all while working hard for the betterment of his organization and friends.
Recollecting his college days in Co-Operative College here, Arvind Singh said few days ago, he had the opportunity to visit the college to participate in a programme and that too because of Praveen Singh.
Hailing the social activities of Das as well as his long political career, Former Ichagarh MLA said he has discharged his responsibilities successfully as a MLA, Minister, State President of BJP, Chief Minister and performing his duty as National Vice-President of the largest political party of the country.
BJP leader Abhay Singh, who is also the party In-Charge of Dhanbad, expressed hope that the good work of Pravin Singh would prove milestone.
Abhay Singh said he did not know much about Praveen Singh but recollected the strategy Praveen Singh had chalked out that resulted in the victory of Arvind Singh in 2009 assembly poll in Jharkhand.
Tata Workers Union (TWU) President Sanjeev Chaudhary alias Tunnu said he and Praveen Singh were childhood friends and classmates.
Praveen Singh had the quality to take people along and was lord Laxman-alike for his elder brother Arvind Singh.
Referring his college days, Tunnu said we did not had students union in our college those day but it was Praveen Singh, who conceptualized the idea. However, Pravin did not had the lust to lead the union but had extended all support from outside.
The Editor of Prabhat Khabar, Jamshedpur Edition, Sanjay Mishra said Pravin Singh was his junior in the college and had met couple of times.
Mishra also recollected how Praveen Singh thought of launching a video magzine and succeeded in turning it into a reality.
Jharkhand Bar Council Vice-Chairman Rajesh Shukla said Praveen Singh had struggled and established an identity in the society.
Even after his death, people are remembering him, he added.
