Jamshedpur: Tata Steel Utilities Infrastructure and Services Limited (Tata Steel UISL) marked the World Water Day with a series of activities, reiterating its commitment to water conservation and management.
Ritu Raj Sinha, Managing Director of Tata Steel UISL, graced the occasion as the chief guest, accompanied by Raghunath Pandey, President of Jusco Shramik Union, in the presence of Pranay Sinha, Chief Corporate Services of Tata Steel.
This year’s World Water Day theme, “Accelerating Change” was highlighted through various activities, including an interactive session on water conservation and a discussion on the challenges and opportunities in water management. The event also featured informative stalls showcasing Tata Steel UISL’s various water conservation initiatives.
The day started with a rally from Keenan Stadium at 6 am, which was flagged off by Mr. Ritu Raj Sinha, Managing Director of Tata Steel UISL, along with Mr. Raghunath Pandey, President of Jusco Shramik Union, followed by an exhibition and discussion.
On the occasion Mr Ritu Raj Sinha addressed the gathering and said, “We take immense pride in our contribution towards water conservation, and this event gives us an opportunity to pledge our support to the global goal of water conservation,”
During World Water Day celebrations, various competitions and sessions were organised, including a Water Awareness drive in community centres and schools, Water conservation related messages on Radio, a Poster/Slogan competition, an Internet Quiz, and LED displays related to water conservation and water harvesting.
Tata Steel UISL is committed to reducing water consumption and recycling wastewater through sustainable initiatives. The company has implemented several rainwater harvesting projects, and community-based water conservation initiatives are a top priority.
Through its dedicated efforts, Tata Steel UISL aims to contribute to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal, which aims to ensure the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
The event was organised by the Water Division department of Tata Steel UISL, and it was an excellent platform to demonstrate its commitment to water conservation and management while encouraging other organizations to follow suit.
