Gamharia (Seraikela-Kharsawan): Tata Steel Foundation and VLCC Institute have joined hands to provide beauty and wellness courses to the enterprising girls of Gamharia area in Seraikela-Kharswan district.
Samprity Shaw is one of the beneficiary, who want to make her career in the profession, is now pursuing a beautician course from VLCC institute courtesy funding from the Tata Steel Long Products Limited (TSLPL)
As a child, Samprity experimented with the limited beauty products she owned, and continued her pursuits despite the uncertainty of making a career in grooming and wellness. She watched online tutorial videos to hone her skills and pick up the latest techniques and trends in make-up.
On completing four months of training at VLCC, Samprity says, “Ever since I was a kid, I was deeply interested in make-up. It was more than just a hobby for me, and my mother saw that. Her unwavering support gave me the confidence to enrol in this course and now her hopes are even higher for me”.
Even in contemporary times, we often have a hobby that is very contrary to our everyday work life. But, for Samprity and other women at the VLCC institute, there is an opportunity to combine work and hobby to become financially independent. Today, like many others, Samprity is finding unique ways to express herself and her journey through her training and work at the VLCC institute.
The collaborative efforts of Tata Steel Foundation and VLCC have helped several women in this region of Jharkhand take up beauty, grooming and wellness as a promising career. In the last three years of its implementation, 170+ people have enrolled in the VLCC initiative from around Jharkhand. Placement is also guaranteed under this programme to all the enrolled students who can start their career right after the completion of course.
The noble initiative will also help people realise their entrepreneurial pursuits and have a sustainable income. Candidates enrolled under the VLCC programme go through a five-month training process, spending four hours every day for six days a week. This programme also gives every candidate a glimpse of professional salons and the latest techniques and styles in the beauty and grooming industry.
Inspired by this initiative, Tata Steel Long products, which operates in the area, have also joined hands and are now funding the dreams of 15+ women, in their operational area, near Gamharia.
