Jamshedpur : Tata Steel Foundation inaugurated a newly constructed birth waiting home, also known as Prasuti Pratikshalaya in Kuchai, Saraikela Kharsawan district, Jharkhand. This comes after the first one was inaugurated recently in Dumaria on September 11, 2023. The third one is also expected to be inaugurated later this year.
The event was graced by Honourable Shri Dashrath Gagrai, MLA, Kharsawan, Shri Ravi Shankar Shukla, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Saraikela Kharsawan, Dr Ajay Kumar Sinha, Civil Surgeon and Chief Medical Officer and Sourav Roy, Chief Executive Officer, Tata Steel Foundation. Sourav Roy, Chief Executive Officer, Tata Steel Foundation said, “We are hopeful that the Prasuti Pratikshalay being set up in the remote corners of the Kolhan region in Jharkhand will raise awareness on the efficiency of institutional deliveries. The initiations on these interventions are often the result of goodwill that the frontline healthcare workers like MANSI mitras and sahiyya didis have built over the decade. MANSI+ as a programme has been based on innovations which have gone a long way to address the challenges that face the tribal people living in the remote contours of Jharkhand.” Tabled under the MANSI+ initiative, which aims to reduce preventable deaths among mothers, neonates, infants, and under-5 children by 50%, the birth waiting home will help expectant mothers coming from hard-to-reach areas with timely assistance and delivery.
