Chaibasa (Jharkhand): A local in Chaibasa on Wednesday sentenced a man to 22 years imprisonment for raping a minor girl under threat in Kumardungi, West Singhbhum district in 2021.
The court of Additional Session Judge-I has delivered the judgement and sentenced Rohit Kumar Gope for 22 years imprisonment under section 376(2)(N) IPC and section 6 Pocso Act.
Besides, the court also imposed a fine of Rs.10,000/-.
A case in this regard had been registered with Kumardungi police station on 24.08.2021 under section 376 (2)(N) and 4/6 Pocso Act against Rohit Gope by the victim.
The incident had taken place when the victim was living in her maternal uncle’s house in Kumardungi and pusuing her studies in a high school.
She had been raped repeatedly by Gope, a resident of Tangar Tola, Deepasai under Kumardungi police station, after intimidating her.
Police had apprehended Gope in course of investigation and forwarded him to judicial custody.
