Hazaribag: Seven persons allegedly involved in violent group clash in Padma chowk under Padma Outpost police station in Hazaribag district on Holi day were arrested with arms and explosives from Padma on Friday, police said.
The arrest were made after police registered three cases under various sections of IPC and Arms and Explosive acts.
The cases were lodged against 55 persons by name and 150 others allegedly for preventing public servants from discharging their duty and criminal intimidation, possessing explosives, arms and ammunitions etc.
About the incident, police officer said deployment of adequate police force was made in Padma in Hazaribag district to maintain law and order during Holi festival when police had information about violent group clash and brick-batting taking place near Padma chowk in the evening.
Some people were reported to have suffered injuries in the melee.
A police team rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control but the warring groups outnumbered the police.
On the directive of Senior police officials, additional police force headed by Sub-divisional police officer (Berhi) Nazir Akhtar and Rapid Action Force personnel were sent to pacify the warring group and bring the law and order situation under control. However, the warring group members turned violent and started brick-batting on them.
Five policemen including the Officer-in-charge of Padma OP were injured and a police vehicle was damaged, police said.

After bring the situation under control, police conducted raids and recovered explosives and bomb making materials, three live bombs and two country-made pistols from the houses of Pawan Ojha and Prakash Ojha.
Police also seized three tractors with trollies, one tractor with water tank, three cars, motorcycle, swords and other lethal weapons from the spot.
The arrested persons were identified as Vickey Ojha, Dhruv Ojha, Anil Pandey alias Doma, Shivkumar Pandey, Gautam Ojha, Pappu Ojha and Begun Ojha.
