Jamshedpur: The 71st, 72nd & 73rd Championship Dog show organised by Jamshedpur Kennel Club concluded on Sunday. The mega three-day event was kicked off on January 6 at Loyola Ground, Jamshedpur.
Over 430 dogs from across the country participated in this 3-day event. The show witnessed 43 breeds including German Shephard, Labrador, Golden Retriever, Doberman, Boxer, Beagles, Daschund and pugs among others. Another highlight this year was the participation of three special Indian breeds- Caravan Hound, Pashmi and Rajapalayam. Of these 43 breeds, which is the highest ever representation of breeds in a show organised by Jamshedpur Kennel Club, this year 12 breeds like Schipperke, Welsh Corgi Cardigan, Welsh Corgi Pembroke, Jack Russel Terrier, Chow Chow, Samoyed, Bichon Frise, Pekingese and Poodle Toy participated for the first time.

The event witnessed All-Breed Shows, the Beagle Specialty Show and the Labrador Retriever Specialty Show among other. The shows were major attractions for the citizens of Jamshedpur and other places.
Due to the gap because of the pandemic, the much awaited Championship Dog Show of JKC happened after three years. Notably, dogs from Jamshedpur have been competing and have won several national level awards for the last couple of years.
T V Narendran, CEO & Managing Director, Tata Steel inaugurated the event. The esteemed panel of judges for various events such as Obedience Test, Labrador Specialty Show, Beagle Specialty Show and All Breed Show were from countries namely Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand and India.
The inception of Jamshedpur Kennel Club was planted with the idea to strive to promote the state of canine world by arranging scientific breeding, training, dog show and trial, registration of dogs, expert veterinary advice and to bring together all dog lovers under one roof. Jamshedpur Kennel Club – the only Kennel Club in Bihar and Jharkhand which is recognized and functions under the aegis of The Kennel Club of India.
