Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum administration today appealed the citizens to celebrate ensuing Holi festival and Shab-e-barat with peace and communal harmony while issuing warning to mischievous elements of stringent action if any attempt was made to disturb prevailing tranquility.
Appealing the people to observe the festivals in a conducive ambience, Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav said the district administration has been put on alert to meet any eventuality during Holi festival and Shab-e-barat.
During a recent meeting held with the representatives of Central Peace Committee, Jadhav had issued all necessary instructions to the district officials and assured to address the grievances/suggestions placed by the committee.
She has asked the officials to alert youths particularly not share/forward unauthentic and misleading messages or videos on social media that could lead to law and order problem.
Adequate police force with magistrates have been deployed in all sensitive joints to maintain law and order during the festival.
She also urged not to apply colors on anyone forcibly and maintain peace and communal harmony.
Deputy Commissioner said a vigil was being kept on social media round the clock and warned to initiate strict action against persons if found responsible for posting baseless, misleading, inflammatory messages or videos.
Senior Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar said around 3000 police personnel, two companies of RAP have been deployed in the district to maintain law and order during the festivals.
SSP assured additional force from other districts would be called in, if required.
All sensitive roundabouts and places of worships have been identified and adequate police force deployed to meet any eventuality.
He also directed police officials to strictly deal with bikers gang.
We had seized 350 vehicles during Durga puja festival and 200 of them were still lying in police station.
