Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum district police continued to tighten noose around criminal gangs in and around the steel city here and arrested two close aides of notorious criminal Kanhaiya Singh, who was arrested two days ago, with arms and ammunitions from Gadabasa under Golmuri police station on Saturday.
Kanhaiya Singh, who was on parole, had been arrested from Kanpur and was brought here two days ago.
Several cases including murder, extortion have been registered against Kanhaiya Singh, who was close to gangster Akhilesh Singh. He has been evading arrest ever since he came out on parole.
The district police led by Superintendent of Police (City) K Vijay Shankar had paraded Kanhaiya Singh on the streets of Sakchi to dispel fear of criminals from public mind.
Senior Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar said Kanhaiya was brought to police headquarter by foot because of technical snag that developed in the police vehicle he was being ferried.
Following Kanhaiya’s arrest, police was bend on to break the backbone of criminal gangs active in the district, particularly in Jamshedpur.
Based on the input that some accomplices of Kanhaiya have stored firearms in the house of one Ashish Jaiswal to execute some serious crime.
Accordingly, Vijay Shankar said a special police team was formed to initiate action to apprehend the culprits.
A raid was conducted raid in Ashish’s house in Gadabasa in Golmuri but Ashish managed to hoodwink police and fled. Ashish threw a bag while he was running away.
On search, police recovered three country-made pistol from the bag, SP said adding that the police team subsequently launched a search in Ashish’s house.
Police has seized a country-made pistol from one Suraj Jaiswal living in Ashish’s house. Police also arrested Ashish’s elder brother Vishal Jaiswal (29) from preventing police officials from discharging their duty.
Another person identified as Prabhunath Jaiswal alias Ansu (19), who was also living in Ashish’s house, was arrested after police found a video in his mobile phone where he was found loading ammunition in a pistol.
Police seized the mobile phone and arrested him.
Police also seized 15 live cartridges of different bores, Suraj’s adhar card and his bank account.
