Jamshedpur; The “International Women’s Day Celebrations” kicked off today at CSIR-NML. The theme of today’s program was “#EmbraceEquity” – The theme of International Women’s Day 2023.
Dr. Sugeeta Upadhyay, CEO of Maharashtra Economic Development Council was the chief guest of the program.
In her address, Dr. Upadhyay spoke about the long term vision of Jamshedji Tata who was ahead of his time and recognised the importance of investing in youth and especially women.
By introducing the JN Tata Endowment for Higher Education in 1892, she said today parity of enrolment between men and women has never been achieved although addressing the issue was always a priority in our education policies.
Emphasising on the women education, she explained how education increase the labour force output by improving the quality and are the source for self-sustaining economic growth process.
While welcoming the gathering, Dr. M. Tarafder, Senior most Scientist, CSIR-NML appreciated the women employees and emphasised on the Gender Gap Index and the theme “EmbraceEquity” and she mentioned that “at CSIR-NML, women employees are our strength”.
Dr. Sanchita Chakravarty, Chief Scientist & Chairman of the function introduced the Chief Guest and briefed about the whole programme.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Sugeeta Upadhyay felicitated all the four invited dignitaries – Dr. Jaya Moitra, Dr. Minakshi Mishra, Mrs. Sutapa Roy and Mrs. Reena during the programme. The Cultural programme was organised by women employees. In addition to this Food Stall, Rangoli, Mehndi, Art competitions were also organised by the women employees and their family members in this occasion.
In this occasion, two women janitorial staffs were felicitated for their dedicated work during the year.
Mr. Aditya Mainak, Administrative Officer, CSIR-NML proposed the vote of thanks and expressed her appreciation to all the members of the organising committee for their untiring effort in making the programme a success.
