JAMSHEDPUR।
The first day of Jamshedpur FC’s Youth Team (TFA) U17 trials saw as many as 380 young footballers from around the country attend and attempt to impress the coaches at the Tata Football Academy Ground in Jamshedpur.
The trials are free of cost and are being held between 1-8 February 2023. The registration for the same was online this year, with as many as 2,713 candidates registering from across India.
A strict system of age and document verification was followed for the online process with only players born between 01.01.2006 and 31.12.2007 (dates inclusive) allowed to participate in trials.
A barcode scanner allowed TFA officials to instantly gauge whether a candidate’s registration between 17-21 January was legitimate and accepted or was rejected due to age or documentation concerns.
The overwhelming response in registrations was echoed on the first day of trials today as 380 players appeared and competed in matches throughout the day under the watchful eyes of the TFA coaches.
Each player was awarded five different opportunities to play and prove themselves for selection, with candidates appearing primarily from areas around Jharkhand such as Jamshedpur, Chaibasa and Ranchi.
Long lines were witnessed outside the TFA gates from 6 AM, with parents and guardians accompanying their wards during the selection process.
“The first day of U17 trials for the JFC Youth Team (TFA) was a massive success with 380 players attending them,” said Jamshedpur FC CEO Mukul Choudhari.
“TFA is the standard bearer for young footballers in the country and over the course of this week, even more players will get the opportunity to prove themselves. I wish them the very best for the trials.”
The trials will continue till 8th February with players from various other states represented, and the selected candidates will receive a 4-year scholarship at the four-star AIFF accredited academy with all the top facilities available.
