Jamshedpur: The dawm-to-dusk bandh called by people of Hindu community today in protest against alleged brick-batting by the members of a particular community on Ramanavami jhanda immersion procession in Haldipokhar, around 25 kms from here, on Friday night evoked spontaneous response.
The bandh supporters were also demanding for suspension of Circle Officer (Potka) Imtiaz Ahmed and action against the culprits responsible for brick-batting.
They alleged the incident had taken place in presence of the Circle Officer but no action was taken by him.
No incident was reported till now from any part of Haldipokhar after the brick-batting incident last night.
Two persons were taken into custody for interrogation in regard with the Fridday’s incident.
A Mukhiya, former Mukhiya and a police constable were among half a dozen people sustained injuries in brick-batting incident.
A flag march led by Superintendent of Police (Rural) Mukesh Lunayat was staged today morning.
Besides, police force in adequate number was deployed to maintain law and order, However, the situation was well under control and no incident has taken place in Haldipokhar today.
Last night, members of a particular community brick-batted on Ramanavami procession of Vijay Bajrang Akhara committee when the procession was heading towards Rankini temple in Haldipokhar.
At least, half a dozen people suffered injuries in the incident.
The immediate intervention by police has brought the situation under control and the Ramanavami jhanda immersion had taken place peacefully.
Enraged over the incident, Hindu community people has given a call for today’s Haldipokhar bandh, which was total and spontaneous.
Another brick-batting incident was reported in Jugsalai in the steel city here last night but the situation was brought under control by police immediately.
