Jamshedpur: A fort night after the killing of a criminal Pradip Singh, police today arrested six persons including a woman following raid in the steel city.
A 27-year-old Pradip Singh, who has been evading arrest in arms related case, had been shot dead by unidentified assistant in Bhuiyandih locality under Sitaramdera police station limit on 13th February, a senior police officer said.
The incident occurred near the resident of a former Jharkhand Minister and Swarnarekha burning ghat when unidentified assailants had shot dead Pradip, who was allegedly a member of a criminal gang.
Pradip was a resident of Gurudwara Road in Mango here.
The incident had occurred on February 13 when the victim was buying some item in a shop in Bhuiyandih when he spotted two-motorcycle borne youths following him and he tried to hide inside the house of the shopkeeper. However, the assailants had pumped in six bullets in Pradip’s body including his head, face and chest and injured him critically.
He succumbed to his injuries soon after he was admitted in Tata Main Hospital.
Senior Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar at a press meet said a special police team was formed to apprehend the perpetrators. The team have conducted raids in the city and arrested six persons including a woman, who called the victim over phone on the directive of the rival gang members.
Police has seized three country-made pistols, 7.65 mm pistol with magzine, 12 live cartridges, one empty cartridge , three two-wheelers including a bullet and three mobile phones from their possession, SSP said.
The incident was a feud over objectionable post on social media.
The prime accused Rahul Singh hatched the conspiracy and eliminated Pradip.
All the accused have been forwarded to judicial custody today, SSP added.
