Jamshedpur: Six criminals allegedly involved in opening fire near Jamshedpur civil court and Tinplate Sadbhavna Market here on 27th March were arrested with arms and ammunitions on Sunday.
A case has been registered under Sitaramdera police station under sections 307/34 IPC and 27 Arms Act after unidentified miscreants had opened fire near Gate No.3 of the Jamshedpur Civil court on 27th March last.
Soon after, the same miscreants had also opened fire near Sadbhavna Market of Tinplate area under Golmuri police station to extract ransom from shopkeepers.
A case under sections 384/307/34 IPC and 27 Arms Act was registered against unidentified miscreants on 27th March last.
In view of both the incidents, Superintendent of Police (City) K Vijay Shankar said a special police team was constituted on the directive of senior police officer to investigate both the cases as well as to apprehend the perpetrators.
In course of the investigation, Vijay Shankar said six criminals were arrested from different parts of the city and recovered the firearms and a motorcycle used in the crime.
Addressing a press conference here, SP said one of the accused Vicky Singh Gill alias Kundi confessed that his friend Manpreet Singh was shot dead by one Navin Singh and his associates about a year ago.
The firing near the court premises was aimed to avenge the killing of Manpreet as our target was the accused Navin Singh, who had come to appear before the court in connection with the case on 27th March.
However, Navin escaped unharmed but the panicky people ran helter-skelter for safety and the criminals took advantage of the situation and ran away from the spot.
Kundi and Aman Kumar Singh alias Takla had fired a round each targeting Navin near the court but in vain.
Kundi, Takla and their accomplices Raj Paswan alias Kallu and Manish Kumar Rahelu had opened fire a round each near Sadbhavna Market to terrorise shopkeepers for ransom, SP said.
Apart from Kundi, Takla, Kallu and Rahelu, the other two criminals arrested were identified as Vicky Tiwari alias Prakash Tiwari and Goldie Singh alias Goldie Bachcha (both 19 yrs), SP added.
Police has recovered a country-made fire arm, two country-made pistols of 7.65mm bore with magzine, three pieces each of live and empty cartridges, four motorcycles and an Activa scooty.
The investigating team included Inspector-cum-Officer-in-Charge of Golmuri police station Rajeev Ranjan, Inspector-cum-Officer-in-Charge of Sitaramdera police station Akhilesh Mandal, Officer-in-Charge of Birsanagar Prabhat Kumar and Officer-in-Charge of Govindpur police station Amit Kumar Singh, among others.
