Jamshedpur: Two unidentified miscreants on Monday opened fire at gate number 3 of civil court in Bhuiyandih locality under Sitaramdera police station here today.
The motorcycle-borne miscreants opened fire and fled immediately even when the policemen were on duty at the gate.
A police team from Sitaramdera police station rushed to the spot on being informed of the incident and begun investigation.
Police has swung to action and examining the CCTV footages to identified the perpetrators.
Police said we have investigating the incident and trying establish the identity of persons responsible for firing.
The motive behind the firing was also not ascertained as yet.
An empty cartridge was recovered from the spot, it said.
No casualty or injury was reported in the incident.
Meanwhile, a panicky situation was created and people ran to safety as the incident occurred during working hours.
About a fortnight ago, police had caught a person with a firearm near the court.
It is being suspected that the miscreants opened fire to terrorise a witness who was was on his way to record his statement in the court in regard with a murder case occurred in Sidgora area here in June last.
