Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) on Sunday evacuated encroachment on different roads and removed illegal hanging banners and posters in view of the ensuing festivals in the city.
The operation was carried out by the flying squad on the directive of JNAC Special Officer Sanjay Kumar.
The poster and banners illegally fixed for publicity on trees, walls, poles and hanging in the air were not only causing revenue loss but also enhance the possibilities of road mishaps.
Besides, the drive was launched to ensure that Ramnavami processions to be taken out later this week should not face any difficulty.
The drive was launched in Sakchi Tinkonia, Haandi line, Hardware line, Mohammedan line, Shitla Mandir, Tank Road, Bhuiyandih Bus stand, Bhuiyandih Lakdi Tal, Baridih chowk, Baridih petrol pump, Tinplate Kali Mandir, DVC Mode, Tube Division, Burmamines, R D Tata, Golmuri Kerala Public School.
Over 500 banner and posters were removed during the drive.
Apart, the fly squad members also removed temporary structure built with bamboos on Baridih and fruit stalls set up near DVC Mode.
Apprehending the possibilities of road mishap, the fruit vendors were suggested to install stalls a distance away from roads.
JNAC urged the Burmamines police station to initiate action in this regard.
The removal of illegal posters and banners was carried out between 8.00 to 12.00 under the supervision of City Manager Ravi Bharti by Krishna Ram, Prakash Bhagat, Ganesh Ram in the presence of Flying squad.
