Jamshedpur: In a broad-day light, a criminal, who has been evading arrest in arms related case, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Bhuiyandih locality under Sitaramdera police station limit on Monday, police said.
The incident occurred near Swarnarekha burning ghat and the residence of a former Jharkhand Minister.
The victim has been identified as Pradip Singh, a resident of Gurudwara Road in Mango here.
The victim was buying some item in a shop in Bhuiyandih when he spotted two-motorcycle borne youths following him and he tried to hide inside the house of the shopkeeper. However, the assailants have pumped in six bullets in Singh’s body including his head, face and chest and injured him critically.
Singh, a member of a criminal gang, was rushed to government-run MGM hospital but the doctors referred him to Tata Main Hospital considering his severe injuries.
Singh, however, was declared dead soon after he was brought to TMH.
The assailants managed escape after committing the crime.
The incident has created panic among the residents of the area.
On being informed of the incident, a police rushed to the spot immediately and began investigation to establish the identity of the killers and the cause behind the incident.
Police was conducting massive raids in all possible hide outs to trace the perpetrators.
