Medininagar (Jharkhand): Keeping in view the prevailing tense situation in Panki block for the second day today, the district administration has decided to extend suspension of internet services in Palamu district till 10 AM of 19th February.
The district administration on Wednesday had temporarily suspended all types of internet services for 24 hours from 4PM of yesterday till 4 PM of today following communal clashes that took place in Panki town of the district yesterday, a senior official said.
However, it was further extended today till 10.00 AM of 19th February in view of prevailing tense situation.
The situation remained incident-free in Panki today, the official said.
Meanwhile, a FIR against over 140 persons was lodged by name and several hundreds unnamed even as security arrangement was briefed up in the riot-hit block to maintain law and order.
Police and para-military personnel also staged flag march to send out a clear message that administration will not tolerate anyone taking the law in their hands.
Over 12 miscreants from both community allegedly involved in the clash were rounded up so far.
Official said the situation is tense but well under control.
Over half a dozen people including policemen were injured in the brick-batting incident on Wednesday.
The district administration has imposed prohibitory order under section 144 CrPC in view of the communal tension in Panki.
Earlier, a clash between two groups belonging to different community broke out in Panki over erecting a welcome gate for Shivratri festival, which was opposed by other group, leading to communal flare up.
