Ramgarh(Jharkhand): Sunita Choudhary of AJSU Party was leading over her nearest rival Bajrang Mahato of Congress at the end of second round counting of votes of by-election for Ramgarh assembly seat amidst tight security arrangement today.
Sunita Choudhary, wife of Giridih Member of Parliament and former Jharkhand Minister Chandraorakash Choudhary, has bagged 25,524 votes against UPA candidate Mahato at the end of second round. She was leading by 11, 779 votes. Mahato, the husband of convicted former MLA Mamta Devi, fetched 13,745 votes.
Earlier, the counting of votes for Ramgarh bypoll commenced at 8 am on Thursday amidst tight security arrangement in Ramgarh college campus.
Eleven rounds of counting of votes would be carried out by about 120 personnel in 40 tables.
67.96 per cent of polling was recorded in the Ramgarh by-poll that had taken place on Monday.
Altogether 18 candidates including Mahto and Choudhary were in the fray.
