Ranchi: Over one thousand Hindu people belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL) category have returned from pilgrimage to Somnath and Dwarka free of cost under Mukhyamantri Tirth Darshan Yojna.
1001 people of over 60-year from across Jharkhand including East Singhbhum district set out for the pilgrimage on 20th March and returned today.
Jharkhand government had borne their expenses including to and fro bus and train fare, breakfast, food and lodging during their week-long religious tour.
The government also borne the expenses of their visits to local religious places on buses during the 2nd phase of the tour.
In the first phase of pilgrimage, 830 people of minority community of over 60-year age belonging to BPL category were taken to Ajmer Sharif, Agra and Fatepur Sikri from February 15 to 21 under the scheme.
On their return, the people appreciated the state governments initiative and urge the Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren to continue it.
They expressed happiness over the tour organized by the government free of cost for the benefit of the people like them.
