Chatra (Jharkhand): About three kilograms of opium in wet form was seized in a raid in Dumbi village under Sadar police station of Chatra district, police said.
Superintendent of Police of Chatra, Rakesh Ranjan had an input today that a SUV car containing 2.900 kgs of wet opium was parked in Dumbi village and about to leave the village to sell the narcotics elsewhere, police said.
According, a police raid team headed by Sub-divisional Police Officer (Chatra Sadar) was formed on the directive of the SP to initiate action.
Subsequently, the raid team conducted raid and seized the contraband from the vehicle that was found parked near the house of one Rupesh Yadav in the village, police said adding that the SUV (Bolero bearing registration no. JH 13D 7721) was also impounded.
A case under sections 18/22/29 of NDPS Act was registered with Chatra Sadar police station in this connection.
The exact cost of the contraband could not been assessed as yet.
