Chaibasa (Jharkhand): West Singhbhum district police on Friday nabbed six active members of CPI (Maoists), which included a Commander of the Militia group of the outlawd extremist group with explosives in West Singhbhum district, Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Shekhar on Saturday said.
SP said the arrests were made on intelligence input.
We have informed that some active members of the left wing extremists were carrying explosives, which to deliver them to their Commander in Tonto police station area.
Accordingly, a massive checking drive was launched by a police team formed following the input received by the district police headquarter.
The team launched the drive on a road near Baripokhari village under Tonto police station and arrested one Boj Hembram alias Kishun Hembram, SP said adding that two pieces each of detonators and gelatines, which were being used for IED blast, were recovered following his body check.
Hembram revealed vital information about the group members during interrogation, which resulted in the three more ultras with detonators and gelatin from Tonto police station areas, he said.
The arrested naxals admitted that they were active members of Maoists group and carrying the explosive for delivery on the instruction of their Commander, SP said.
The team also conducted raid in extreme extremist-affected Rengrahatu village on Friday night and apprehended a Commander of Maoists Militia group Damu Koda alias Judu Koda (35) and Birsing alias Chota Koda (35).
The duo conceded that they were involved in setting afire vehicles engaged in road construction work in Chiruiekir village under Tonto police station on 12th February last. Besides, they were also a part of a group engaged in an encounter that occurred in Tumhaka forest in January, Kochavad forest near Rengrahatu village in December last and Garuwang forest near Rengrahatu in 2021.
Altogether five number each detonators and gelatine sticks and a motorcycle were recovered from their possession, SP added.
Five cases were pending against Damu Koda and two against Birsing under Tonto police station.
