Ranchi,: Tata Steel’s Noamundi Iron ore mine in Jharkhand has won six awards at the 29th Mines Environment and Mineral Conservation (MEMC) week, 2021-22 organised under the aegis of Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), Ranchi region at Ranchi on Saturday.
Noamundi Iron Ore Mine was declared winner in Overall Segment, Afforestation and Mineral Beneficiation under A-1 Group of mines. Similarly, the mine was Runner-up in Waste Dump Management and, Systematic and Scientific Development under A-1 Group of mines.
Besides, Noamundi Iron Mine received second prize in Stall Exhibition.
Officials of Tata Steel received the awards from Pankaj Kulshrestha, Chief Controller of Mines (I/c), IBM who graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
A total of 79 awards were given away on the occasion in various categories including Mineral Conservation, Environmental Monitoring, Sustainable Development and Publicity and Propaganda.
Addressing the gathering Kulshrestha said, “Though Ranchi region is rich in abundant deposit of ores, in compared to other regions, it has less manufacturing units of Iron and Steel. To contribute for the development of our country, along with focus on exploration of more mines, its time to think for the establishment of more such units.”
Among others present on the occasion were Dr YG Kale, Controller of Mines, East Zone, IBM, Atul Kumar Bhatnagar, General Manager (OMQ), Tata Steel, Joydeep Dasgupta, Executive Director, SAIL, Shirish Shekhar, Chief, Noamundi Iron Mine, Tata Steel, Prateek Gupta, Senior Vice President, Hindalco Ltd, Sanjit Kumar Adhya, Head, Operations, Noamundi Iron Mine, and officials and representatives from various mines across the state.
