Seraikela (Jharkhand): About 42-year-old man was trampled to death by a wild elephant in Chowka police station limit of Seraikela-Kharswan district on early Saturday morning, a forest department official said.
The victim Rahin Munda, a resident of Balidih village under Chandil Sub-division, was went out to relieve in a nearby forest when the incident happened, official said.
The forest department was in the process to drive away a herd of elephants back into the forest for last few days.
However, a group of pachyderms left behind while other elephants reached close to the forest.
One of the elephant from the group of four that left behind has trampled munda to death early today morning, official said.
The villagers informed the police and forest department only after the elephants moved away from the spot and recovered the body, which was being sent to Sadar hospital for postmortem.
It was the fourth incident of killing by wild elephant in Chandil Sub-division this year.
