Seraikela: The skeletons of a tribal couple were on Sunday recovered by the police from a forest under Chowka police station of Seraikela-Kharswan district, a police officer on Monday said.
The couple had gone missing following an altercation with their neighbors over petty issue in January last.
The incident came to fore after 12-year-old son of the victims along with his maternal uncle registered a case in this regard on Sunday.
Police swung to action and rushed to the Mudda jungle under Chowka police station along with the complainants and recovered the skeletons of the couple identified as Soma Munda (45) and his wife Itwari Devi (40), Officer-in-Charge of Chowka police station Dharmaraj Kumar said.
The accused neighbors used to quarrel with the victims frequently over petty issues.
In January last, the neighbors had a quarrel and the couple had gone missing soon after the incident.
In the FIR, the victims relatives stated that the accused persons had killed the couple and the bodies were dumped in the forest.
The complainants said they could not dare to lodged FIR in this regard as the accused had threatened them to kill if they would dare to disclose it.
Police said no arrest was made in this regard as yet but a hunt was launched to apprehend the accused, who are absconding.
The skeletons have been sent for examination in forensic lab.
