Seraikela: A half-burnt body of a man, who was shot dead before, was recovered from near a drain in Yashpur under Gamariah police station of Seraikela-Kharswan district today. An empty cartridge was also recovered from near the body.
Police was informed about a body of about 30-year-old, who has been shot dead in chest before his face was crushed and set on fire, lying beside a drain in Yashpur.
Unidentified assailants suspected to have crushed the face and set the body on fire to hide the identity of the victim.
Police has sent the body for post-mortem in Sadar Hospital, Seraikela, police said adding that police investigation is on.
Police suspect that the man was murdered elsewhere and body was dumped in an isolated place, where the killers crushed his face and tried to set on fire.
Meanwhile, police was trying to establish the identity of the man from the area and its vicinity.
