Jamshedpur: Tata Steel today kicked off 34th National Road Safety Month across its operational locations. National Road Safety Month Campaign will be observed between January 16 to February 15.
A formal inaugural function was held at SHE Excellence Centre at the Tata Steel Works, Jamshedpur. Sanjiv Paul, Vice President, Safety Health & Sustainability, Tata Steel Rajeev Mangal, Vice President Safety, Health & Sustainability (Designate), Tata Steel graced the occasion along with Nitesh Raj, Assistant Secretary of Tata Workers Union were present.
Neeraj Kumar Sinha, Chief Safety, Tata Steel gave the welcome address besides setting context for the occasion. He explained the programmes and initiatives lined up during the campaign, besides stating the importance of touching external stakeholders and community at large.
In the second fortnight of February, there will be a two-day Road Safety Awareness event where in a lot of Safety activities for school students, teenagers, college students and citizens of Jamshedpur will be organised. A series of professional speeches under “SAFE TALK-by Industry Experts” will also be organised to enhance Road Safety Awareness.
During his speech, Sanjiv Paul stressed on need for deeper introspection on Road Safety practices. He outlined how to implement and ensure safe systems to enhance Safety Performance of the company.
Rajeev Mangal, in his address, highlighted how Road safety is not about a behaviour inside our work premises but it extends beyond company premises.
The 34th National Road safety Month is being observed under the guidance of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Govt. of India every year. The National Safety Council supplements the Government’s initiative by promoting Road Safety Campaigns across the country.
