Jamshedpur: Tata Steel organised a symposium to commemorate National Productivity Day at the Centre for Excellence on February 13.
The symposium was held in two sessions which included seminar and panel discussion on the national theme of productivity – Green Growth and Sustainability.
The seminar was organised in collaboration with Indian Institute of Industrial Engineering, Jamshedpur chapter. Rama Shanker Singh, Chief Productivity Services, Tata Steel welcomed the gathering with the brief introduction on the National productivity Week.
The speakers from various industrial and professional bodies shared their thoughts on the theme. They included Dr. A K Behera, chairman Indian institution of Industrial Engineering, National Council, Somesh Biswas, Chief corporate Sustainability, Tata Steel, Dr. Tata L Raghu Ram, Associate Professor at XLRI, Manoj K. Tiwari, Director, NITIE (National Institute of Industrial Engineering), Pallavi Anne, Director, Business Excellence QHSC (Quality Health Sustainability and Environment), Dubai.
Speakers gave inputs on various drivers on the productivity, impact of employee cost on productivity, socio economic choices of the nations, challenges in decarbonization of economy, the raising need for sustainable procurement, resource efficiency at macro level, policy interventions by Indian government, key focus areas for sustainable growth across any value chain, biodiversity impact on productivity, integration of productivity with environment for green productivity, zero waste policy for the most productive and sustainable future etc.
The second half of the symposium witnessed panel discussion on Green Growth and Sustainability.
Atrayee Sanyal, Vice President Human Resource Management, Tata Steel and Sanjeev Kr Choudhary, President, Tata Workers’ Union were present as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively. The panel members included Ranjan Kumar, Chief Coke Plants, Gyan Prakash, Chief Automation, Tata Steel Shahnawaz Alam, Vice President, Tata Workers’ Union and Shyam Sundar Singh, General Secretary, Tata Motors Union.
